An independent alternative
for pressure measurement
We are a manufacturer, not a reseller. Flexible sensing films, array acquisition and pressure mapping software — built to be evaluated as a second source, without giving up measurement capability.
Why engineers start looking for an alternative
Three reasons come up again and again in the enquiries we receive.
Lead time
Test windows do not wait. A second source shortens the path from specification to hardware in hand.
Cost structure
Custom arrays are priced on film area and channel count, not on a catalogue position — which changes the economics of larger projects.
Customization
Non-standard geometry, unusual ranges, or an array that has to follow a specific curvature — we cut the film to the part, not the other way round.
Capability by capability
What a pressure measurement project usually needs, and how we address it. Competitor specifications should always be verified against their current datasheets.
| Requirement | Established sensor systems | Panda approach |
|---|---|---|
| Single-point force sensing | Thin piezoresistive force sensors in standard sizes | PD-FS film, 0.3 mm, 64 × 64 matrix per sheet, cut to your footprint; calibrated in-house |
| Surface pressure mapping | Sensor arrays with multi-channel scanners | PD-FS sheets + PXS collectors: 4096 points per sheet, tiled to 1040 × 2480 mm and 40,960 points |
| Analysis software | Proprietary mapping and analysis suite | Bundled acquisition software: live map at 20 Hz, multi-sheet stitching, playback, CSV export |
| Custom array geometry | Standard catalogue shapes, limited customization | Geometry designed per part, including curved and stepped surfaces |
| Field installation | Typically customer-installed or via local partner | Bonding procedure, encapsulation and commissioning support included |
| Documentation | English datasheets and manuals | English datasheets, calibration records and commissioning reports |
| Data ownership | Platform-dependent export options | Raw CSV / JSON export by default; data stays with you |
Comparison is based on general market positioning and publicly available information. It is not a statement about any specific product's performance; verify all specifications with the respective manufacturer.
Where we are not the right fit
A second source is only useful if it is a credible one. We would rather disqualify ourselves early than lose a project halfway.
- Regulated medical device supply requiring FDA 510(k) or equivalent certification on the sensor itself
- Metrology-grade calibration with traceability to a national institute, where the sensor is the reference standard
- Tenders that explicitly name an approved brand and do not accept equivalents
- Projects requiring an established global service network with local stock in every region
If your project falls into one of these, we will tell you — and where possible point you to a route that works.
From an existing system to ours, in four steps
Send the details
Current model, application, pressure range and the surface it measures.
Feasibility call
A short technical call: what we can match, what we cannot, and what to verify.
Side-by-side sample
Samples tested against your existing setup, with a written comparison if required.
Pilot, then scale
One section or one station first; production and support follow once data agrees.
Questions we are asked before evaluation
In many single-point force sensing applications, yes — the film can be specified to a similar footprint and pressure range. Exact interchangeability depends on the drive circuit, calibration and mounting, so we evaluate each case against the datasheet before claiming a match.
PD-FS sensing sheets with PXS collectors give a 64 × 64 point matrix per sheet, sampled at 20 Hz and 12 bit, tiled up to 40,960 points over 1040 × 2480 mm. One software session merges every collector into a single map with recording, playback and CSV export.
Our acquisition units expose data over Ethernet, CAN or an HTTP API, so readings can be routed into an existing platform. Interface and adaptation work is quoted separately.
Yes — each batch ships with a calibration record traceable to our reference load cell. If you need third-party or accredited calibration, we can discuss it, but we do not claim metrology-grade traceability.
Samples typically ship within two weeks; custom arrays depend on design review and tooling. Minimum order is driven by film panel utilization rather than a fixed number, so small pilot runs are possible.

We will reply honestly on whether we can match it, and what the differences are.
